Greetings folks-
The following is from my official blog - Brainpan Leakage. However, since I know not everyone is a blog reader I thought I should send it out via the newsletter so everyone got an update.
Making Lemonade...
The old adage says, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Okay, well, I'm searching for the sugar bowl right now (or Splenda(tm) or whatever)...
Here is the deal - I won't go into specific details as I am not all about airing laundry and such -- especially when it stinks this bad -- but suffice it to say a piece of inherited rental property along with the inherited tennant from hell has been causing me more grief than any one person should be forced to withstand. In fact, it has been causing that amount of grief not just for me, but for my family, my sister, and my sister's family as well. The kicker? The grief is just getting worse and shows no sign of ending anytime soon.
Now, this blog isn't meant as a bitch session by any means. No... It is meant as an announcement. An UNFORTUNATE announcement. Because of this interference in my life, I have been forced to ask my publisher for an extension, which they graciously approved. I am going to try to avoid actually taking advantage of this extension, but in all honesty, that probably won't happen. I am going to end up needing it and even with the extra time I will still be under the gun.
So... What this means is that Blood Moon, due out October 1 is currently being pushed back to an October 31 release date, with the distinct possibility of being pushed back as far as December 1 if a further extension is required. I will still be traveling on the dual book release tour with Dorothy, however, her book may well be the only one released during that tour. Fortunately, the majority of the stores we will be hitting on the tour are new to both of us, therefore my first 8 novels will probably be somewhat new to them...(another story entirely)...
Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in the day, and I refuse to force myself to put words on paper just for the sake of the book being released on X date. I cannot in good conscience allow a substandard story to be released under my name, and if I try to squeeze words out of an exhausted brain that is exactly what readers will get - an exhausted story with no punch, bite, or inspiration. You have my apologies for the impending delay, but I would rather everyone wait an extra month or two and be happy, than to ruin both my career and my fan's reading experience with a crappy book.
So, here I am... Looking for the sugar bowl so I can make lemonade. Keep your glasses at the ready, because I promise it WILL get made...It's just that good lemonade takes a little time...
Murv
